This episode is second in a series of interviews with Abram Eisenstein, MD, Director of Gastroenterology at Cooper Clinic, about gastro-intestinal health. In this episode, Dr. Eisenstein discusses Barrett’s Esophagus, a disorder in which the lining of the esophagus is damaged by stomach acid. Barrett’s Esophagus increases the risk of cancer of the esophagus. Dr. Eisenstein describes this disorder, talks about the risk factors in developing this condition, and treatment options. In this episode, Abram Eisenstein, MD, Director of Gastroenterology at Cooper Clinic talks about acid reflux and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a condition in which the stomach contents (liquid or food) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus. Approximately 25 percent of us are affected by acid reflux on a regular or occasional basis. Dr. Eisenstein talks about the condition with Todd Whitthorne, and makes recommendations on how those suffering with acid reflux might get relief.
